2025 – A Landmark Year of Achievement
After years of dedicated research, innovation, and perseverance, we reached a major milestone in 2025 by successfully producing over 100,000 juveniles of Greater Amberjack, opening new horizons for sustainable aquaculture.
At the same time, we proudly established an Education Center designed to inspire and train students, colleagues, and future professionals, fostering knowledge transfer and empowering the next generation of aquaculture experts.
Our vision was further showcased on the global stage by our ambassadors – Matthaios, Stefanos, and Spiridoula – who achieved first place in an international competition with their remarkable project, “We Teach Aquaculture.” Their success embodies our commitment to education, innovation, and worldwide impact.
Together, these accomplishments reflect our mission: advancing aquaculture through science, education, and inspiration, and shaping a sustainable future for the industry.

Diversify is a five-year European research program launched in December 2013, bringing together 38 companies from 12 countries. The program is coordinated by the Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) in Greece and focuses on advancing sustainable aquaculture across Europe.
We at Argosaronikos S.A. actively participate in several research initiatives under Diversify, including:
- NEW TECH AQUA research program
- BEST BROOD research project
- YEAST research program
- Innovative Materials for Fishing Nets with Environmentally Friendly Anti-Pollutant Action
- Investigation of Size Variability in Cultured Yeast Fish to Improve Production and Management Practices
One of the six fish species studied in Diversify is the Greater Amberjack (Seriola dumerili), which has attracted growing interest in Mediterranean aquaculture due to its exceptional meat quality and high consumer demand worldwide.
At our facilities, we have undertaken trials focused on the breeding of Amberjack and the rearing of Meagre (Argyrosomus regius). Our work includes the breeding of broodstock, egg production, incubation, and the fattening of juveniles. In 2016, we successfully produced Amberjack eggs, incubated them, and raised fingerlings in our sea cages, demonstrating the potential of this species for sustainable aquaculture development.

Improvement of Broodstock Management and Juvenile Production of Greater Amberjack (Seriola dumerili) – MAGIATIK
The MAGIATIK project focuses on improving broodstock management and the production of high-quality juveniles of Greater Amberjack (Seriola dumerili), with the goal of enabling the Greek aquaculture industry to successfully cultivate this species on a commercial scale.

The Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) will provide experimental protocols for broodstock management to our company, Argosaronikos S.A., as well as hormonal implants to induce gametogenesis. Our facilities will supply samples for analysis (eggs and broodstock tissues) and share data with HCMR.
Through this project, we aim to establish Greater Amberjack as one of the major aquaculture species in the Mediterranean region.
